About
Freeview availability
How
do I get Freeview?
It is easy to get Freeview, most new TVs come with Freeview built-in,
here are some ways you can get Freeview with your existing TV.
A
digital box plugs into the back of your TV via a scart socket. Cheap
boxes start from around £20, and a normal standard one will cost
from £28.75 with more features.
For
instance, if your TV does not have a scart socket, you can buy a digital
box that contains a RF modulator and output which allows you to connect
to the RF socket on your TV. (Please check with your electrical retailer
as only a few boxes are set up this way).
Freeview+
digital TV recorders also have Freeview inside and allow you to
pause, record and rewind live TV.
Do
I need a subscription to get Freeview?
You
do not need to subscribe to Freeview; there is only a one off payment
and no contract to sign. All you need to do is check you are in a Freeview
coverage area before you buy a digital box or digital TV. To do this
use the coverage check link below.
If
are not in coverage now then you may need to wait for the digital TV
switchover. The whole of the UK will go digital between 2008-12. When
your area goes digital, you should be able to see the Freeview channels
We
have many years of experience in dealing with DTT signals.
For example we pioneered the way in the very first days of DTT in the
UK by being appointed as the local Installation engineers for ONdigital
which then became ITVdigital, now kown as FREEVIEW since the BBC took
over main responsibility for the platform.
We
have installed digital aerials for both domestic users with just 1 digibox,
right up to commercial premises feeding over 100 digiboxes,
all from a single aerial! In short, we have the know how and the experience!
